Eucalyptus is one of our favourite go-to decor items lately, and we know many of you are loving it too, but did you know that it has more amazing uses than just looking gorgeous on your table? Today we want to share our top five favourite uses for eucalyptus.
1. Eucalyptus steam shower
One of the best ways to help you feel refreshed and relaxed, or clear out your sinuses and congested chest, is to have a eucalyptus steam shower. You can easily do this in your own home by hanging some fresh eucalyptus stems from your shower head, out of the direct stream of water, and the steam will release the revitalizing essential oils.
2. Getting rid of spiders
Spiders may be an important part of the eco system, buttttt no one wants those guys in their house! A simple and natural way to help keep them out of your house is by drying eucalyptus leaves, putting them into little shachets, and placing them in your drawers and cupboards.
3. Soothing massage oil
Eucalyptus has been known to help treat arthritis, wounds, and achy joints and muscles, so why not make this massage oil out of it. Simply fill a mason jar with eucalyptus leaves, pour fractionated coconut oil or olive oil over the leaves to fill the jar, and place on a sunny windowsill to infuse for a few weeks. Next, strain the leaves out of the oil, and voila! Therapeutic massage oil.
4. Fighting headaches
A great natural way to combat a headache (or chest congestion) is by creating a eucalyptus steam facial. Boil yourself some water, remove from stove and add eucalyptus leaves, and then put your head over the bowl and use a towel over your head to trap the steam. Take some deep breathes and relax as the eucalyptus works its magic on your headache.
We can't help it ... decor is still one of our favourite uses for eucalyptus. It looks beautiful fresh or dried, in vases around your home, as a wreath or hung on your wall, you name it. We love to use it as table decor for parties and showers by laying stems along the centre of the table to create the look of a runner.
We have a feeling that you probably know some other fun uses for eucalyptus and we want you to share them with us! Send us your comments and photos of how you use this beautiful greenery.
